2026 sees the EU continue to prayerfully take the gospel of Jesus to the Sydney University campus. After two very encouraging years of running 2-week public meeting-based evangelism, under the banner of Meet Jesus, this year the EU has committed to a grassroots-style season of mission – the Love, Jesus mission.

Back in 1951, the EU mission season was organised around every year group in every degree cohort seeking to reach their peers with the gospel. This led to over 100 gospel opportunities across the mission season. More recently, you need to go back to 2008 to find a recent grassroots-style mission season within the EU. This was the re: Jesus mission – with EUers creating and organising gospel-centred opportunities that their friends were invited to. In 2026, the EU has committed to the Love, Jesus mission – 2 weeks of EU-inspired gospel opportunities. Many different types of events, of different sizes, across the 2 weeks.

The vision for our Love, Jesus mission in weeks 4-5 of semester is for EUers to be thinking about their non-Christian friends and designing an opportunity that is both engaging and fun while providing a space to hear the gospel of Jesus. EUers recently spent time across AnCon praying for friends and brainstorming ideas for opportunities. They are now undertaking more detailed planning for these events which will be held in the coming weeks.

Many of the opportunities are intentionally organised as low-key, small-scale private opportunities – for example, the Speech Path students are holding a Paint and Sip event where a student will give their testimony; others are inviting their cohort for dinner where they will answer questions about Christianity over a meal. Some opportunities are more public – like a free BBQ at lunchtime with an opportunity to chat over lunch. Many EU faculties are organising their own Public Meetings with topics and speakers relevant to the Faculty. For example, Health are holding talks with the topic – ‘To the lost. Love, Jesus’

Within the EU, as with previous generations of students, we are prayerfully hopeful of engaging many across our campus with the 90-plus opportunities that will be held across the two-week mission season. Please continue to pray with us that the Lord may bring about revival on our campus and that many would hear the gospel and put their trust in Jesus.
