Taking the Next Steps

by Celia Toose

The EU Graduates Fund (EUGF) longs to flood God’s church with Christian leaders.  Our understanding is that the church is global, hence bigger than Sydney. As each staff member joins the EUGF team, we pray for the global church and often see that the resources we enjoy here in Sydney are not enjoyed equally around the world.  From time to time, we ask ourselves the question: “Could I go out and help resource those less resourced places?”

Recently, one of our staff Rob Falls and his family spent nine days in Vanuatu. They worked alongside a long term missionary couple, Joel and Tiffany Atwood, to train student leaders at the University of Vanuatu’s Christian Conference.

“We pursued the opportunity to head to Vanuatu after the National Training Event in Canberra last year, where we met Joel and Tiffany and discussed the needs of the South Pacific with Pacific Islanders. We had prayed and discussed mission for years, but the really practical next step was to go and see the needs for ourselves. I am so thankful to God for the trip, because it not only opened our eyes to the gospel needs in the South Pacific, but we saw first hand from the missionaries we met along the way, the cost and challenge of serving long term. We returned with a renewed desire to serve long term on the mission field – pray for us as we figure out what the next step from here looks like!,” said Rob.
