Hi! I’m Mario and I am joining the EU as the new Howie for FOCUS.

What is your favourite cultural cuisine?

Being a halfie (with my dad being from Singapore), I love Singaporean/Malayisan cuisine (e.g Chicken Rice, Rendang, Nasi Lemak, Satay, Roti Canai, Mee Pok, Kaya Toast etc…)!

How did you become a Christian? 

Growing up with Christian parents, what really solidified my faith was being confronted quite early with suffering. My sister has had cancer 4 times since the age of 6 and so this really forced me to confront the questions of life, death and suffering from a young age. 

I am so thankful that through Jesus, we have hope for life after death!

Why did you join the EU Staff team? 

I started thinking more seriously about ministry during my time at EU, particularly when I joined FOCUS.  

This was really my first time being exposed to the many international students (who sometimes don’t know anything about Jesus), and yet, are often so open to exploring more!

As you know, God really is sending the nations to us through university, and so I think it is such a great training ground as I consider ministry longer term. There are so many opportunities to evangelise, disciple, as well as be encouraged by many students working out their faith, even for the first time!
