How will you be serving?

Hi, I’m Scandy! And will be joining the team as a new Howie with the Scivet faculty. I’m keen to get around students and crack open the word with them as try to present everyone mature in Christ!

What is your favourite movie?

I love anything with Robin Williams in it. He’s dead but boy he was an amazing artist in dramatic, thriller and comedic roles. I don’t have a Favorite movie in particular but he’s definitely been my favourite actor that I’ve come across and has helped shaped both my childhood and my humour. Whether it be Mrs Doubtfire, Good Will Hunting, Dead Poet’s Society, Hook, or Jack he’s a guy who you could go through the whole roller coaster of emotions and experiences. Also a knee slapper of a comedian too!

How did you become a Christian?

I became a Christian through grace and grace alone. It’s a long story so I’ll sum it up as best as I can. I knew there was two big problems in the world growing up, that being a problem of people never fulfilled and a problem of death. It made sense to me that the answers were knowable and out there somewhere in the ethereal plane but who had the answer? No one was jumping and down with it sharing it with others. I floated around until I was in year 12 where I heard about the resurrected Jesus where he had defeated the problem of death, bringing new life that filled up those who believed also answering the problem of unfulfillment. And through talking with friends and hearing more from the Word I was learning that Jesus was the Lord of all inviting all to put all of their trust into him. It’s been a wild ride and simple too, but just so glad that he saves his people through so many ways!!

Why did you join the EU Staff team?

I joined the EU staff so I could taste full time ministry and see if I could do it sustainably for the rest of my life. I love people and serving the Lord but doing It in a full-time capacity is a whole different kettle of fish! Doing ministry as a layman is great but I’ve been hungry for more and really stoked that I’m now freed up to stretch my ministry legs and go bananas with my time and energy with students and staff.

I’m really excited to grow and grow and grow! To grow in my love for God, in my love the lost, in my love for the Word, in my love for the church and in my love for God’s creation.
