How the Lordship of Jesus is impacting lives in the Arts and Social Work Faculty

by EU GradsFund

The start of the year has come and gone, students have endured and adapted to a fog of changes and challenges in the form of train strikes, messy weather and changes in studying in person and online. Yet still, there have been clear and beautiful rays of God’s grace and goodness in the lives of students at Sydney University. Please enjoy some of the rays of how the Lordship of Jesus is impacting students in the Arts and Social Work Faculty in the EU!

My name is Monique and I am in my first year studying a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies), but I am currently in the process of trying to change my degree! I have found it really encouraging to meet people and be part of the EU as I begin a new part of life at uni. My EU bible study has been the one consistent thing during what has been a very disrupted and crazy semester so far! Although I did not put much thought into becoming consistently involved in the EU, through reading the bible and praying with the people in my bible study I have seen how God is always intentional in his relationship with us. Even when I was not intentional in my faith and was often distracted and overwhelmed by uni work, through the EU I was reminded how God knows and has plans for my future even when life seems very murky to me.

My name is Jasper and I’m in my second year at uni, studying philosophy and biblical studies. I’ve greatly appreciated all that the EU has to offer for Christians seeking to strengthen their faith at University. Being able to attend the public meetings each week along with a bible study and other programs has really helped me place Jesus centrally in my life, growing me to be a better disciple of Christ. The public meetings themselves have particularly been encouraging, presenting the wisdom of God’s word in how we should live as a follower of Christ at University and beyond.

My name is Alexander and I’m in my second year of an Economics/Advanced Studies degree. I have most definitely found the overwhelming sense of community in the EU the most encouraging thing for my faith this year. Nothing gives me greater confidence than seeing fellow brothers and sisters, both younger and older, take on this awesome and daunting chapter of our lives with Christ at the helm. It is so comforting to see the large and diverse family my God has so graciously given me as signposts and lighthouses towards a lifetime of serving and loving God.
