EU Welcome and Launch 2025

by EU GradsFund

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

2 Corinthians 5:20

During Welcome Week, thousands of people walked past the EU’s stall. Praise God for all the conversations that EU volunteers had with newcomers! It was so encouraging to see so many people in green EU shirts and black and yellow Meet Jesus shirts, representing our united mission for Christ. We can be assured that God brought each person to the stall according to His sovereign purposes. Thank God for this evangelistic opportunity to spread the good news of Jesus on campus!

Let’s continue praying that God will grow the seeds sown in hearts during Welcome Week and strengthen EU members’ boldness as they step out in faith. One of our stall volunteers, Bethany, shared her experience:

“Getting to meet so many members of our USYD community at the Welcome stall and introduce them to the EU was so exciting! Almost everyone I spoke to had never heard of the EU and was happy to learn about what we do and why we do it. During the two-hour slot I helped, I signed up three students directly to the EU database! It was a great form of evangelism, as everyone was already used to chatting with other stalls, and so many were keen to chat!”

EU Launch Day, held on the Friday of Welcome Week, was also a huge success! Students gathered to worship God through song, dwell on the Bible, and pray together in an all-in session. Praise God for our Faculty leaders and everyone involved in planning their respective Faculty activities, creating a fun and welcoming space for students to express themselves and enjoy fellowship with other Christians. Let us continue praying for spiritual revival on USYD’s campus and for all EU members—new and returning!

“Reconnecting with fellow EU brother and sisters after the summer break was fun and encouraging! It was also incredible to meet many new first-years keen to get involved! At the start, heaps of first-years were quite nervous and unsure where to go or who to talk to. Seeing everyone go out of their way to include and welcome these new EUers was great. For me, a highlight was singing together on campus—the spirit was so alive in the room, and it was powerful to have so many students united in worship! As a second-year, returning to Launch Day was such a wholesome experience, as it helped me truly recognise how much the EU and God have grown my faith and worked in me over the past year. Can’t wait for Launch Day next year!”

“Launch Day was a blessing to see so many first years welcomed into the vibrant EU community! Also loved catching up with everyone after the break, worshipping as a big group, and doing all the activities across campus. Encouraging to see the growth of the EU and very excited for the year to come!”
