Early Morning Prayers for Revival

by EU GradsFund

On the very first morning of our two-week Meet Jesus mission, 90 EU students gathered at dawn in Victoria Park. From 7-8am, as people began walking onto campus for a new week of work and study, we lifted our voices together in song and prayer. Guided by the words of Psalm 40, “He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him,” we praised our faithful God and asked boldly for revival at Sydney Uni, committing the mission weeks ahead into his hands.

For many students, it meant an uncomfortably early start to the day! But we know that depending on God in prayer together is worth it. Every bleary-eyed moment was a reminder that our strength, our mission, and the hope of revival do not rest on our own efforts, but on the Lord who hears and answers prayer.

This prayer meeting wasn’t just a one-off event. Earlier in Semester 1, over 90 students also gathered for an evening of prayer together. In both of these gatherings, plus many smaller moments scattered through small group bible studies, team meetings, training groups, and 1-2-1s, we are pursuing a culture marked by devoted prayer for revival. As we look towards our centenary in 2030, we long for prayer to be at the heart of who we are – not simply our activities and programs, but firstly a deep reliance on God himself. Only He can bring salvation to the campus and equip his people to do the good works he has prepared in advance for us to do.

We want to thank you, our supporters, for standing with us in this mission. Please keep praying alongside us – for revival at Sydney Uni, for the mission of the EU, and for God’s glory to be seen in the lives of students. Your prayers are vital as together we seek to make Jesus known on campus.
