Our DEngo (Design and Engineering) crew had a wonderful and quite surprising time over the two-week Love, Jesus Mission! 

We had 5 public events put on by the students, and others hosted private events to share the gospel with their friends and families. 

Our biggest event as a faculty was the DEngo Public Meeting, “Built for More”, where we spent time building mini Lego sets, chatting and hearing a talk from Seth.

Seth shared Jesus’ story of the wise man who built his house on the rock, and urged our DEngo students, who are currently studying for a life of creating and building, to consider the wisdom of building their lives on the words of Jesus, rather than worldly things. 33 Dengo EU-ers came along as well as 7 visitors, both Christian and non-Christian. It was such an encouragement to see so many students, since finding times to meet during the semester is so difficult amidst the business of student life! 

I sat with a student who had brought along her non-Christian friend, and in God’s kindness we were able to share the gospel with her, and she is keen to find out more! At this stage, she has read the whole gospel of Luke, but her busyness prevents her from getting involved in many other things… Please join us in prayer for this visitor, and others who were connected to the EU through this event. We would love to connect them into the EU and give them further opportunities to know Jesus and deepen their relationship with Him, but this takes great intentionality, so please pray that we could do this effectively! 

Another great encouragement was a craft event run by two second-year students. They had prepared many different craft activities to do, and I gave a gospel talk on Colossians 1, sharing that God is our creator, and we, His precious creation, have been reconciled back to Him through the blood of Christ.

We had many visitors, including 7 non-Christians who were all engaged in gospel conversations with students and myself. I remember thinking, “Wow, give me a break Lord! These conversations just won’t stop, but wow, how good that they won’t stop, praise God!” I have personally never experienced this many non-Christians at once coming to hear and ask questions about faith, so it was such a precious experience that my students also shared was a great encouragement to them. At this stage, one student is planning to read Uncover Mark with two of her non-Christian friends who visited the craft event, and I have since connected with a first-year guy who has been very interested in coming along to other EU activities. Please pray in great thanks to God for all these conversations, for those who are seeking, and for their continued interest. Pray also that they might come to a living faith in Jesus Christ as they continue to learn more about Him! 

Overall, this mission time has been a wonderful chance for our DEngo students to be bold in inviting their friends, and to see that the harvest is indeed plentiful as our Lord says! Many students expressed how great it was to have non-Christians visiting and genuinely interested in learning more about Jesus, especially because they more commonly experience people not wanting to know more. I feel so proud of our DEngoers and have loved seeing them using their gifts and interests for God’s glory through the various gospel opportunities that occurred.

Since this mission, our committee has spoken about possibly recreating gospel opportunities like these more regularly in the future. We hope that this might be an avenue to continue inviting non-Christians to have faith conversations in a more casual environment, since it worked so well over mission. 

Please pray that God might establish these lofty plans of ours, and that we could work all these things for His glory and to see His kingdom grow on the Sydney Uni campus and beyond!
