A beautiful partnership

Each year I have to explain to a new generation of student leaders how the EU ministry at Sydney Uni ‘works’.  I describe it as a three-way partnership: students, staff, and supporters. The EU students are the front line and focus of the EU’s ministry: to see them come to a saving faith in the Lord Jesus, grow to maturity, reach out to the lost on campus, and be prepared for a lifetime serving the Lord Jesus. The EU staff serve as pastors, teachers and evangelists, supporting and equipping the EU students in their ministry. Through their prayers and financial generosity the supporters enable the staff to serve the students in this way. It is a precious and beautiful partnership.

Over the decades the Lord has blessed this partnership amongst his people to see hundreds come to salvation at Sydney Uni and sent out to live for him across Sydney, Australia and beyond. Please pray with thanks for all those joining this partnership for the first time in 2025 – for the hundreds of new students, the new EU staff, and the many new supporters (and if you are one of them, ‘Welcome!’).

Of course, as precious and beautiful as this gospel partnership is, the most important ‘partner’ in this ministry is the Lord Jesus. It is the glorious, risen Lord Jesus whom we serve together! He alone will bring fruit from our partnership. All our varied efforts are entirely for his kingdom and glory.

As we embark on this gospel partnership together in 2025, let’s commit ourselves to prayer that our Lord Jesus will richly bless all of our different contributions and build his eternal kingdom.
