One Hundred Howies!
Under God, 2013 marks another milestone for the EU Grads Fund: we have employed our one hundredth ministry apprentice in the EU Grads Fund’s Howard Guinness Project (affectionately known as ‘Holies’). Since the EU Grads Fund began in 1991, a total of 103 graduates have served as Howies, serving the EU as staff workers and be trained for a lifetime of ministry. These trainees make a critical and strategic contribution to the EU’s ministry, serving alongside students in all faculties as pastors and teachers. Mary, a Howie from several years ago, shared this reflection:
“Being a Howie was an amazing gift from God. I loved seeing people trust God for the first time, others make hard decisions to please God, and students grow in confidence in understanding and teaching God’s word. Being on campus gave me an even greater passion to help those from outside the English speaking world access the Bible in a language they understand. And so now, our family are the newly arrived students in a foreign country, trying to connect with people and learn their culture and language and be a light for Jesus there.”
We would love to see even more Howies serving with the EU at Sydney Uni. If you know a mature Christian who is eager to serve and learn, why not recommend they consider becoming a Howie at Sydney Uni in 2014 or beyond?
Finances
General donations from EU graduates are lagging behind budget. These donations are vital to subsidise senior staff, pay for Howies’ training and cover employment costs for all staff. If you have made a general donation in the past, please consider recommitting an annual amount towards the ministry on campus. A sincere thank you to everyone who gives so generously.
Yours joyfully in his service,
