Ministry and Training

People in the HGP program (‘Howies’) experience a wide range of challenging and exciting ministry opportunities as they partner with EU students in ministry, including:

  • Evangelism: the HGP will give you more opportunities to do and be stretched in evangelism than most ministry jobs available. 50,000 students study at USYD, most of whom do not call Jesus Lord.
  • Bible Study Groups: develop expertise in teaching the Bible by leading multiple small groups each week and discipling people to grow in the Lord.

  • Pastoral Care: Learn how to disciple new Christians, maturing believers and emerging young leaders by word and example.

  • Training students: Empower others to do ministry as you regularly train students in skills such as small group leading, evangelism and pastoral leadership. This is central to our vision of flooding God’s church with the next generation of Christian leaders.

  • Strategic thinking: Help a variety of students work out how to plant, nourish and grow ministries for God’s Kingdom from large-scale campus missions and growing faculties to reaching niche cultures and running conferences.

Howie’s receive regular training from the Senior Staff that will equip them for a lifetime of serving God and his church. This training takes place one-on-one, in small groups and through a more formal weekly 3 hour eQuip time.
